Live Webinar: From JIBAR to ZARONIA - An overview of the LMA SA Rate Switch Agreement

As the transition from JIBAR to ZARONIA comes into sharp focus (with expected cessation to take place at the end of next year), it is important for market participants to understand the transition tools available to them when entering into facility agreements now that mature beyond end-2026.

Since May 2024, the LMA has published a form of rate switch wording designed to facilitate the transition from JIBAR to ZARONIA in a way that does not require immediate operational readiness and builds in all the terms necessary for the transition (so there is no need to reopen the documentation close to the transition date).

Sadly it’s not as easy as crossing out JIBAR and putting in ZARONIA but the good news is that this mechanism has been extensively tested before as part of LIBOR transition.
